like i want to use it for making videos on window movie maker and my web cam just doesn't seem to work. and if it's not soposed to work please tell me so i don't feel stupid

You need to install the webcam's software driver BEFORE you even plug that thing. It should be in a CD that came with it. If none, try this:

well your webcam should come with a software. You should be able to film with the software then import it into windows movie maker. I only tried using pictures taken with the webcam, so I don't know much about the videos.

make sure that you have the webcam software installed properly and also make sure that it is turned on.
now open up windows movie maker and then on the left side of the screen it will say "capture video" or something along those lines. select that option.
