If I'm on xp for operating system is it ok for me to install an earlier version of my sound card like say windows 2000 or something like that earlier version of software not never updated one on to my operating stystem XP does not like it I've been to lots of forum sites and still nothing. Got lots of usefull info if any needs to ask. I hate this no sound thing XP does not like my sound card.

worked great till I uped my operating system to xp was on windows 2000 and windows ME. Had no problems till now

Without the right driver, it just won't work. That card could be too outdated if it has no driver for XP. Make life easier on yourself, buy a new soundcard. There are cheap ones with decent quality.
