Or can it be just anything with the same Qualities? I need a 256MB stick for a Gateway Performance 1500...and apparently it uses "System specific memory". But it has the same features and specs as a Kingston Value RAM I found. Would that work?

Install CPUZ:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Open it and select SPD tab. Look at right column. If it says "none" on Correction, your current RAM stick is just typical/regular RAM like that Kingston KVR.
