everytime I try to change my color deph, it ask me to restart my computer and when I do, it goes back to the other color deph? Any answers?

I have windows XP and a CTL flatscreen monitor. I have recently re-installed windows xp due to an unforuntate crash over holiday break. But I noticed there is no sound at all. Whether I play something on windows media or go to youtube...anything that should have a sound DOES NOT. i have gone through ALL the "sound troubleshoot" steps, twice now. I still have NO sound. My dad says I should buy a pair of speakers to see if that works (currently the speakers i DO have are IN my monitor) as an alternate way to hear audio. But would that work? If i dont have any sound NO MATTER what I do, why would a pair of speakers work? Did I plug the monitor into the wrong slot on my motherboard?(it says LCD next to it??) Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? I appreciate any and all help I really do. Thanks for your trouble...I truly hate being computer illiterate. I'm not even illiterate I'm just a plain BLACK HOLE of computer awareness. Alright, big thanks for your time in advanced! ;)

I did it once by clicking on one button on a bottom toolbar, I think. Now I can't find that button to click.

He said he won't even buy a HDTV because Apple has better than 1080p resoultion and that they are the only ones who show "true color" whatever that means? Anyways, there is better monitors out there right?

i have a samsung syncmaster 470 BF and over night it stopped working. when i try to press the on/off button, the led turns on and then turns off. i have tried all the instructions in the user's manual and the troubleshooting section but nothing seems to work. i don't understand how could it stop working suddenly. all the cable are connected but i haven't touched them the day before so nothing could have happened. what am i supposed to do? (this is another computer i am using)

I have tv-out (s-video),video shows up fine but no sound,
sound comes from my pc but not the tv?
tv has hdmi input,but pc card doesn't,
pc card only has vga & s-video,
tv has vga input,but ???
when i hook vga to s-video(with vga to s-video adapter)
video comes in black & white with no sound.
any help?

When I turned my computer on tonite the screen is more to the left and I have an inch or more of blackness..my start button is almost off the screen along with my icons..how can i fix this

The highest i can set the resolution to now is 1280 x 768. Is there a driver I can download to get the resolution uo to 1400 X 1050 or is it in the screen.

the yellow dots apear occaisonally and are not specific to one part of the screen so for example they will affect a text box in places and when i move it then follow the box not staying static on the screen. it is not permanent to any part though. is it somthing like a virus or is it colour specific so a new screen is needed?
