He said he won't even buy a HDTV because Apple has better than 1080p resoultion and that they are the only ones who show "true color" whatever that means? Anyways, there is better monitors out there right?

The highest rated "consumer" LCD on the market (believe it or not) is the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP.

I personally hate Dell but have to admit the facts.
FYI : all high end LCDs are capable of higher than 1080p, but no one transmits higher than that resolution.
FYI: many many monitors are capable of true color.... I'm sure it's a good friend but definitely not a good tech info source.

the dell monitors have a wide angle of viewing among other things

the monitors at dell are quite reasonable because they are very good definition and i ood price
