ok, so my dad is REALLY stuborn, and i HATE the laptop he bought around 6 months ago. It takes FOREVER to boot up, none of the programs work instantly, and we've done a system restore around 2 times already. i just HATE the laptop hw got, and i keep telling him that he could've gotten a laptop around twice as better(imo that is) for around the same price. i want to convince him to sell the laptop he has and to get a macbook, but how?

The 30GB (C:) drive on my VAIO is virtually full.... so how do I go about utilising the free 27.6GB free on the (D:) drive. I guess I can store program files but I really need to free up space, before it's starts struggling! How much space can I free up but more importantly how do I go about it safely? It can't be that difficult but I need to know what to do.

(I know things like Encarta etc. take up a relatively lot of space but I guess it needs to stay on (C:) so I can still access it, right?)

I appreciate any help so I can learn. Thanks guys/girls.

I have an IBM Thinkpad and am attempting to upgrade the amount of RAM that it has. I looked on the IBM website and it states that this model will support up to 1GB of RAM. I built my destop computer but the motherboard supported up to 4GB so i never had to deal with this problem. So if I was to find a stick of RAM that would fit into the laptop would BIOS recognize it and even if it doesn't would Microsoft Windows XP Pro which i have the laptop running on be able to detect the RAM itself instead of following BIOS. Furthermore does anybody know of a flash upgrade that might update bios to allow larger amounts of memory. While I am well versed with computers I am sure somebody else out there will have more knowledge on this kind of stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and I use a notebook mouse with it. I type very fast and find myself sometimes resting my hands on the touchpad. Suddenly, I'm typing away in the wrong place. :( Does anyone know if I can turn the touchpad off since I never use it?

Thanks!
Sandy

I know this would invalidate my already expired warranty, and I've already sourced a part on ebay.

thanks!

I have recently gotten a replacement laptop but HP sent me back the old one to recover the data from it. Small problem--it has no power and will not turn on. I would like to transfer the data from the no-power laptop to the new one or to my desktop if that is easier. Any ideas? Please be step by step as I am very new to laptop use and only had my old one a month before the power went out on it for good. Thanks so much!!

I took my computer to a local computer repair shop to have them remove some screws to get to the hard drive and they made a philips screw into a circle screw, and I don't think they make a circle screw driver. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to get a small laptop screw out after it has been circularized.

When I bought a new harddrive, I had to go on the hp website to download the drivers and stuff for my sound or whatever. Do I have to do the same thing for my wireless internet connection? There used to be a "connect to" thing in my start menu, but there isn't one anymore. How do I get my wireless thing back so that I can get on the internet wirelessly?
