The Dell XPS 1210, which can be seen at this link http://youtube.com/watch?v=xpnhzhcj29o... , is perfect for you

It weighs only 4 pounds and has bult in microphone and webcam. The microphone allows you to talk to friends without additional devices attached to your ears. Very convenient. The webcam allows you to view yourself live to your grandparents and other relatives, and also allows you to take pictures just like a digital camera.

What makes this particular notebook interesting is that it allows you to listen to music and watch Movies without booting up windows. This means you don't have to turn on the notebook in order to listen to your favorite songs and Movies. Just a click of the direct media button will launch a special feature to benefit this convenience.

The Notebook also features a set of keyboard called " Silence" This specific keyboard is only found on Dell computers, particularly the XPS series.

The reason this little notebook has won best notebook of the year is because it is the only ultra portable notebook that dominates in gaming. That's right, it supports a powerful Graphic card to play the most intense game out there today.

This will allow you to play games without having to worry about freezes and crashes.

Please note that this notebook's buttons have blue lights combined. This means the notebook looks resplendent in darkness.

It supports the most powerful CPU. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor offers up to two times the CPU performance on gaming and entertainment systems compared to Pentium M processor technology1 and up to 12% overall system performance improvement over first generation Intel Core Duo processor platforms2.

I own one of these notebooks, and I can't be anymore impressed. I love it dearly to my heart.

The notebook comes stardard with 1GB of RAM as well.

If you like this notebook, which costs only $1299, then visit http://www.dell.com/content/products/pro... to purchase your seductive notebook.

I think a Mac would be good for you. They are reliable machines and come with a built in webcam, microphone, and have a Core 2 Duo processor. They have the ability to run both Mac OS X and Windows as well. I think either a MacBook or MacBook Pro would suit you the best. If money is not an of too much concern, then the MacBook Pro would probably suit your needs the most. It has a very nice screen that is bright and crisp, has a powerful Core 2 Duo processor, and has a backlit keyboard. The MacBook is also a very nice computer and is quite portable. The screen is a little small, 13.3", but is larger than that of the Dell computer that Ms. Dell reccomends. I think you will find a bigger screen to be very helpful in school work. A 12" screen is pretty small, and a 13" screen is not a whole lot bigger. However, with a 15" screen, you will be able to have a Word document open and have a webpage open at the same time--you will be able to see both windows side by side. Also, another benefit of getting a Mac is that they are far less vulnerable to viruses, spyware, and adware that plague Windows computers. Hope this helps...

Core 2 duos are old processors. MacBooks are way overpriced and there are many better alternatives. The laptop I currently have is the HP Envy 14, it is $999, ($899 with student discount) and it is a really solid computer that runs media very well. I would recommend you look into it. Although the Vaio is nice because it has the blu-ray drive, playing blu-ray on a screen with 720p resolution is pointless. The Vaio does seem like a nice choice, but it doesn't have a GPU, which will hinder what you want to do. To James: Did you mean to say that Macs use high end hardware? because that is not true at all. It is also legal to install Mac OS X on a pc if you pay for the software.

Macs will get you less hardware for the money, but it's the only way to use Mac OSX and all that other Mac software. Read reviews of Mac vs PC to make up your mind.

Macs are great, but it depends on what applications you plan to use and what you choose to do with your computer.

I am getting a Mac and I plan not to come back.

i would suggest getting a mac. it is a lot better, you can almost never get a virus and it is more user friendly. look into getting the macbook or macbook pro. you will like it way better than a sony guarenteed.

DEFINATLY GO WITH THE MAC!!! I have an iBook, and I love it! it doesn't slow down over time like a PC does, and I have it loaded with programs. so its much faster. (if you want to, you can use "Q" emulator, its free, to run windows.) and you can open all Office documents on Mac Word.

Good Luck!
