The 30GB (C:) drive on my VAIO is virtually full.... so how do I go about utilising the free 27.6GB free on the (D:) drive. I guess I can store program files but I really need to free up space, before it's starts struggling! How much space can I free up but more importantly how do I go about it safely? It can't be that difficult but I need to know what to do.

(I know things like Encarta etc. take up a relatively lot of space but I guess it needs to stay on (C:) so I can still access it, right?)

I appreciate any help so I can learn. Thanks guys/girls.

The best use for this seperate partition is to store your data there - if you have photos, music, video, documents, etc in your "my documents" folder you could move that folder to the D: drive and tell Windows your new "my documents" folder location (right click on "my documents" icon and go to properties to change it).

The only real way to "move" an application to a different drive is to uninstall it and then re-install it on the D: drive.

The biggest advantange of moving your documents to the D: drive is that if you ever had to reload windows on your C: drive, you could reformat C: without losing anything in your "my documents" folder. Please backup to another device before moving anything!!!
