My laptop is running really slow. The graphics are slow too. I run ccleaner on it to clean out the registry and fix errors. I have plenty of hard drive space. I do not have a lot of applications running. I even have memory allocation software that maximizes the memory. These programs are not slowing it down. For the life of me I do not why it is running so slow. I have a DSL connection, and the laptop does not surf as fast as it did when it was new. I have gone to places like meta cafe and viewed their XP demos on how to optomize the OS, however, have not had any luck making my computer work like it should. Any ideas?? Not sypware, virus, or popups...I have already checked. Oh..and it is not operator error. lol

For example, Dell only now offers Blu-ray drive in models such as XPS 1710 which cost several thousand dollars. Sony is actually cheaper than Dell, but the cost is still over 3k. I mean not everyone wants the extra cost of a gaming laptop to enjoy the benefits of Blu-ray. Why is a Blu-ray drive not an option in cheaper laptops? I doubt many companies will spend 3k or more just to have Blu-ray on a laptop. Why are laptops with Blu-ray not being sold that in a manner that will cater towards business use rather than home use?

I accidently dropped about 1/4 to a 1/3 of a bottle of water onto my Dell laptop (Inspiron 6000) keyboard. I wiped it down and blow dried it, and everything was working okay until about 15-25 minutes later when the "delete"/"backspace" button stopped working. Can I fix this? What should I do?

Hi -

I just bought an HP Pavilion dv9000. It has an AMD Turion64x2 Processor(s). 17". Windows Vista. 120gb HD with about 10gb used up. 954mb of RAM.

I have no previous experience with laptops. I was wondering, if I left it on all night to download stuff, would it overheat and possibly damage my computer? Also, if like to sit on my bed and have it on my lap, or the bed sheet. It seems like the sheet or my pants are almost sufficating the vents on the bottom. Is this a problem?

If you get exact information from an HP website or something, that would be the best! Best answer for you!
Thanks guys!

Here's the deal. I have a stepnote with a realtech sound card. When I record to a virtual studio I get this digital noise along with the recorded data. It sounds like a strong chorus/delay effect, making guitar tracks sound more like a synth. I get the same kind of noise when I record to a tapedeck from the headphone out. I thought that it would be filtered out when the audio tracks were burned to a CD, but it wasn't. I know the noise is digital artifacts. What I don't know is if it is hardware related or software related. I also don't know if it would be a problem with the sound card or the or if it's because I'm only running 256MB RAM, it it turns out to be hardware related. If not enough RAM, would a USB audio interface make any difference? Also, what does a computer use for A/D and D/A conversion? That information seems to be missing from the specs on every computer I've looked at. Please note I've used Audacity and Kristal and got the same results with both.
