I accidently dropped about 1/4 to a 1/3 of a bottle of water onto my Dell laptop (Inspiron 6000) keyboard. I wiped it down and blow dried it, and everything was working okay until about 15-25 minutes later when the "delete"/"backspace" button stopped working. Can I fix this? What should I do?

get a screwdriver, or butterknife, and pry the keys off individually. It wont break them, I've done it several times. Then either blot it dry, or use a hairdryer on low heat. Make sure you either have another keyboard as a reference, or write down the keyboard layout so you dont have a problem putting the keys back in the right order. If the water got down in there below the keys, you may have to take out all the screws, and dry off the ( I dont know what its called) the clear plastic circuitry looking part. Hope this helps!

As long as it was just water, it should clear up as soon as it completely dries up, set it upside down, and leave it for a day. If it was any other kind of liquid, and on a laptop, you would be SOL. Desktop keyboards, believe it or not, can be washed in a dishwasher (no heat cycle).

Hi. Let the water dry completely. This may take awhile because the internal parts include a plastic layer and the water gets sucked up by capillary action. Take it apart if you feel adventuresome. They are cheap to replace.

Be glad it wasn't Pepsi.

Cause, back in the '80's....there was this movie, called Weird Science.....and they spilled Pepsi on their keyboard...and it made a woman!

Yeah, it was Kelly LeBrock....and she looked all hot and stuff....and she appeared out of the steam and stuff where they spilled soda on their keyboard! Go figure!

See, things could always get worse!
