I just got a new computer, and want to take the best care of it, and i have a very loud stereo system behind it and want to know if thats bad. It vibrates my desk and when I put my hand on my computer, i can feel the vibrations through the case.
let me know,

This idea really bothers me because if true and DOD and DOJ can do it even if they have to have a manual any computer literate 6th grader should be able to play havoc with any system so equipt.

my monitor goes to sleep but my tower is still on

i just installed the xbox 360 extender and i turned on some kind of away mode by mistake during setup that lets my 360 still have access to windows media player without having computer on. but i think it also makes my computer stay on just making it a little more energy efficient

so if that is the problem how do i turn off the away mode?

My old computer died (RIP) and I just got my new one. There is a possibility that my old hard drive failed, but I want to know if it would be worth it to try installing it on the new computer to see if I can recover any of the old files? If it is worth a shot, what should I be aware of?

Pertinent issues:

old hard drive was the primary drive on the old computer. I would not want it to be primary drive on the new one, obviously.

Both computers have windows xp operating systems. Does that help or hurt?

Any way to install the drive externally or it would have to be internal (the old drive was internal)

would I need any special tools or cables or anything to do the installation?

Would installing the old drive invalidate any warranties on my new computer (Dell)

Is there any easier way to do what I want without installing the old drive, keeping in mind my old computer doesn't boot anymore?

Thanks for your thoughts. Happy New Year!

i'm having trouble with my CPU fan getting stuck, so far i'm hoping that it's just stuck and not a problem with the actually power connection on the motherboard itself. there anything i can use to get it moving again?

I have a Dell 4600 series with Windows XP and I want to reformat my computer and I know there are different ways to do so. I'm not looking to run some anti-virus programs or anything like that to fix the problems. I want to completely start from scratch. What's the best way to do it?

I want to buy a motherboard but there is one thing I do not get. When you buy a motherboard, does it only come with the motherboard itself or is it supposed to come with the little chip also called as "cpu" or processor thingys attached? I thought u were supposed to buy them separately like ATX motherboard and a Intel Core 2 Duo separately. Also, does it come with the video and sound cards attached to it? Do u have to buy them separately and put it together? If yes, does any video card or sound card go with any motherboard? I have just recently gained interest on computer parts and I am going to build my own desktop. I want to know more about computer hardwares to become better at it. Please help me understand motherboards and if they come together or not?

I've had some graphic card woes lately...I think it's time I get a new card. My pc's fairly old, running xp, soon to be dual-booting vista as well. Both OS are 32-bit, whatever that really means. I'm searching around for an inexpensive cheap video card, and a difference. One card is 32-bit, the other is 64-bit. The 64-bit card looks all around better, but is what does that 64-bit memory or whatever really mean? Does it matter? thanks for answering and Merry Christmas

I have a pretty old"hp pavilion mx 90" desktop (I am 13, it is actually my parents') with ...
19.1 GB memory on the C:\ partion, 8.57GB is free
Windows ME edition
256 MB RAM
AMD Athlon processor

that was just to demonstrate how truly ancient this computer is..
They will not sell it, so what I need to know is where I can buy a RAM upgrade, 512MB at least, for very cheap,(I can buy online) and if it would be worth buying a new processor and Windows XP or if we should just get a whole new computer.

I also need to know where to find cheap laptop RAM, maybe about 1GB

Another thing...
If I get a new laptop, different than above, which brand should I get, regardless of the price,(please nothing un-realistic ex. dell with 3.4gb ram, 3GHz dual core processor, ect)
And where should I purchase this laptop?

I am about to replace my computers basic chassis with a new gaming case. It is a Emachine t6414, and uses a 300w power supply. The case I have bought comes with a 450w power supply, but there are rumors that it dies a lot. If I install the new power supply can it potentially destroy the computer and make it unusable? Should I use the old 300w supply, use the free 450w or buy a new 400w that is garenteed to work? Thanks.
