I've currently got broadband with BT, and my other 2 children can connect wireless via there laptops, but as for the 2 desktops, I can't connect unless I use the ether cable.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to buy any additional wireless keys? as I have for the laptops.

My brain is in a pickle, any help will be gratefully appreciated, plus it will keep the kids quiet abit longer til problem is resolved.......lol

Thanx

you only can use so much bandwidth on wireless. its actually better to have them wired..

you can use usb dongle's for them , but the bandwidth of sharing 4 over wireless isn't so good..

or see if you can fit wireless cards, but wired is the best way.. as 4 people fighting over the wireless port is gonna make it very slow.

i agree with the wiz's answer most people seem to think cause laptops have built in wireless that desktops do as well. they don't have built in wireless you can go 1 of 2 ways get wireless pci cards that you open the case to install or if you have a usb port you are'nt using you can get a wireless usb dongle from most any computer shop. what ever you get you need 2 1 for each desktop. as far as the answerer talking about bandwith that does'nt apply on an unlimited account which we have in the states i personelly have 4 desktops on a single adsl modem wired and 2 laptops and 2 desktops wireless thru the same adsl modem. and all of them can go on the web at the same time without any noticeable speed reduction.

Since the systems will find the internet while wired. The problem is limited to the wireless side of the house. I assume you already ran the wireless network setup wizard, if not do so. The next question I have is does the wireless card show up in the device list? If not - you are out of luck and going to have to install the drivers for the wireless device. If you have more info I will have more for you

Ermmm. Might be teaching grannies to suck eggs, but most desk tops dont have wireless. You will need to buy the right dongle thingy for the wireless router to stick in the desktop usb on each one.
Hope this helps. xXx

With late model laptops, wireless is built into the system, this is not true with desktops. You'll need a wireless card or wireless USB adapter.

Buy wireless USB dongles for them. You will have no problems with wireless bandwith connecting to your router.

You need to get wireless cards for the desktops, it is not builtin to desktops like it is with laptops.

Fit a UBS wireless adaptor from any computer shop, but check for any on/off switch first.

Open the router on your computer it will then ask for the MAC number for each of the machines you want to add. If you haven't got these numbers you will have to get them from the maker.
