At stock voltage and adequate cooling, it is impossible to fry a processor. Cooling is the key to great overclocks. It is excessive HEAT that damages a processor even when not overclocked.

It is also easier to do overclocking on enthusiast motherboards from ASUS, Gigabyte, Abit, etc. than on an Intel motherboard.

Here's what others have done on the E6300:

Overclocking is making the CPU run at larger clock speed than it develop into designed to. i.e. a 2.4Ghz CPU clock speed overclocked to 3.0Ghz. it is comprehensive in the BIOS of the laptop. i does no longer recommend which you are trying this, till you're waiting to purchase a clean CPU. The CPU would dissipate, and whether overclocked to the place it did run in an outstanding state will placed on out plenty speedier than if used usually. maximum people who tinker with overclocking use a particular water cooling gadget of their computers that works on an identical helpful as a motor vehicle's radiator, they're high priced to place in. There are additionally air-conditioned situations.

Even when overclocked right i hope you realise that you may end up with a faster computer but its durability is impacted. For hardcore gamers this is a reasonable trade off but if you do lots of other stuff other than gaming this is a no no (in my opinion) Plus the heat issues...

You change the FSB speed, and increase the voltage.
Is not recommended unless you are sure you know what you are doing, would you rather have a happy working machine ? or one that will die on you in middle of the night and get stuck until one can fix it ?
