After having problems with XP, I took the hard drive out, installed it as a slave drive in another computer, I tried to fix it with the XP repair console but it still wouldn't start up. So I re-installed XP (not a clean install) and it started fine up fine when I switched it to the primary drive. But when I put the hard drive back in the original computer, all I get is the start up screen (that says windows xp) then it goes to the screen saying that it had a problem starting and would I like to start normally or safe mode etc. I can't get past this. Any idea what I should look for since it started fine in one and not the other? It's a Dell Dimension 4600i.

Why would a person need 1000GB of disk space in a computer? What are some of the things you can do if you have so much disk space ? Computers are being advertised with a lot of disk space, especially recently.

I'm planning to get the new iMac. And it's most likely it's going to be in my room. But I've heard that big electronics like tv's and computers emits a lot of radiation. So I'm just wondering if it is ok to unplug the computer after use, and plug it in when i need to use it? So, does that damage the computer?

In your answer, tell me if you're sure or if you're just guessing, because I don't want to damage my computer.
thanks.

Hello,

Do you know how can I find out which drivers I need for my nVidia RAID?

After reinstalling WinXP home, my E: drive (RAID0) seems to work fine, but I still get window's 'FoundNewHardwareWizard' popping up (twice) every time I login into my fresh new windows.. It's trying to install 'NVIDIA nForce(tm) RAID Class Device'

Having gone all over the nVidia site, I am totally confused and don't know what I am meant to install!

Any help you can give would be bloody great. Thanks!

I asked this a little while ago
But ive been told ive been far to vague

OK.
Well i just have that instinct that my pc isnt running at full potential, thats all... and its ocassionally being slow.. sometimes im named lagger in multiplayer games that arent the most graphics powering.

This is my spec:
AMD athlon 62 x2 4400+ (2.3ghz) AM2
2gb ram - twinx (dual channel) 800mhz corsair
500w coolermaster psu
160gb hard drive etc...
7800gt XFX graphics

My hard drive is a standart sata 7200rpm. Its not full, ive only just reinstalled my OS (win xp pro) because of slowness to my system. So its very free of space.

It should have adequate cooling. 1 120mm fan at the front, 2 80mm fans at the rear and an 80mm fan at the side, also a big fan on my psu and a new arctic cooling cpu cooler.

I havent overclocked at all.
All my components are getting seen by programs such as cpu-z, everest etc.. so my 2gb ram, graphics etc are all getting seen.

I fink its a BIOS/drivers problem

The nVidia's GeForce series used to identify video card and chipset.
I am confused about that.

Are they the same compared between video card and motherboard chipset?

For example, GeForce 6200 of video card and motherboard chipset Geforce 6200, does this case exist?
If so, are they the same GPU or the same brabra...?

BTW, GeForce Go series, what's the meaning of go?

I have a fairly new pc, that i built myself.
And am concerned its not running at its potential performance for some reason. Its not being seriously slow like wat you'd expect from an old computer with very crap spec, but for wat the pc is im just not cetrtain its running quite right.

Is there any software that can help this run faster, as i have downloaded some software like ccleaner which was helpful, and also everest and cpu-z but they dont seem to do anything exept tell me wat components i hav which i already know.

My pc is:
AMD dual core X2 athlon
2gb ram - dual channel corsair 800mhz 2x1gb
7800gt graphics
xp pro
500w coolermaster psu
abit mobo
cheap asus case.
160gb wd

Which for xp i think should b pretty dam quick

Any scans i can do to hunt a problem i may have?

Or any idea's wat could be wrong.

How often should one do it? Does it really help for the computer?

I'm purchasing a PC system rig for Christmas from NewEgg. I want a high end system, but not TOO high that I'm punching holes in my wallet. I don't plan on overclocking anything. Feel free to offer better prices and especially point out any glaring inconsistencies you have between the components. This is what I have planned....

-ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX (~$249.99)
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz LGA 775 (~$279.99)
-Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB Asus DX10 (~$419.99)
-CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 533 SDRAM (~$49.99)

What I plan to recycle from my old system:

-450W Antec PSU (hey it's Antec, so that makes it stronger, right?
-Soundblaster Live! Audigy 2 ZS (Is this Direct 9x compatible?)
-Two 100 GB harddrives
-DVD and CD writer/reader

My ultimate question: Will all of this work alright? Does the CPU and video card compliment each other? What about the power supply -- is it adequate? Finally, what kind of cooling will be needed -- One fan? Two fans? Water cooling?

I recently added a wireless keyboard and mouse on my desktop PC. Now, my screensaver won't come on! I've tried re-doing the settings and still nothing. Could it be something to do with the wireless keyboard and mouse? The screensaver would always come on after 5 mins. Any suggestions would be so great! Thanks!

Hi. My cd-dvd drive is not recognizing that I put a disk on the tray. It doesnt give me that option box that lets you choose if you want to "play" or "copy" the CD. Nothing happens, like there isnt a disk in the tray. I've tried going thru windows media player, using a DVD playing program, no programs are recognizing any disk I use, DVD or CD.

That was an Atari 800. Bought it at the tail end of 1980. I believe the clock speed was 35 MHz and the memory 64K. About a year later, I got a kit that permitted bank switching and the use of 128 K of memory. Though the clock speed and memory nothing compared to today's computers, it had some pretty fast graphics though very low definition. It also handled math pretty fast. As to memory storage that was via cassette recorder. I would type in programs copied from computer magazines and store. This is really precious. One weekend I was typing in a long extensive program. I ad actually been up over 24 hours. I think I was about 2 lines short of completing the entries and a drunk hit a pole knocking out the power. All the work gone in an instant. When you would put the tape into computer you would hear the sound from the data flow. Often after 10 or 15 minutes of almost musical flow of data, you'd get this flat tone. That ment it had screwed up and you had to start from the beginning.
