I have the choice of buying either 1 of these computers and im not sure which would perform better, if there's even any difference between the 2?They're the same price and will be used for college, music, internet and maybe some small games.

These are the specs for the first one:Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor
- 1.86GHz, 1GHz FSB, 2MB Cache
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
- 1GB DDR RAM
- 160GB Hard Disk Drive
- Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD RW Drive
- 64MB nVidia GeForce 7300 SE Graphics
- 8-In-1 Media Card Reader
- 6 USB Connections
- 4 PCI Slots

These are the specs for the other:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Processor 4000+
- 2.2GHz, 1GHz HT, 1MB Cache
- Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
- 1024MB RAM Memory
- 250GB Hard Drive
- Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer Drive
- NVidia GeForce 7500LE Graphics
- 8-In-1 Media Card Reader
- 6 USB Connections
- 19" Packard Bell TFT Monitor

Please help,
thanks.

I perfer the Intel Core 2 Duo processer. If you could somehow bump up the 1.86GHz, to like the 2.2 GHz and bump up the memory you would have an awesome computer. I hate Vista too. It is a difficult OS to master. So I recommend staying with XP. Another thing you should think about and let us know is what are you going to be using this computer for?

Pick the computer from a manufacturer who offers the best support. Believe me, support is as important, if not more important, than the price. If you have been working with computers for a while, you may be familiar with WindowsXP and Microsoft Office software. In this case, I would suggest you stay with XP. Vista and Office 2007 will put you back to square 1. They do the same things (and more), but differently, which requires relearning.

WindowsXP is so popular that Microsoft has just expanded sales to run until next summer, instead of ending sales in January. Additionally, I read where Dell has just ordered some PCs with XP because of the number of requests.

I would go with the Core 2 Duo.

Upgrade the ram to 2gb and depending on what types of games you're gonna play, I'd upgrade the graphics on it too

I would take the top one only for XP over Vista. I perfer AMD over Intel.
