just depends on how long it has been since the last time that you did it and the amount of files it has to go through. I would say just to be safe and to keep the computer running good maybe do it once a month or so and yeah it does help the computer and gets files set up to optimize the speed and makes then easier to access them and make the computer run faster.

Yes, a disk defrag usually takes a long time. It can take between 30 minutes - 3 hours to defrag. I think the time it takes to complete a defrag is dependent on the amount of disk space you have on your hard drive (as the more disk space you have, the longer the defrag takes to finish).
In my view a defrag should be done at least once a month because of the time factor (mentioned above).
It does speeds things up in most cases, you'll just have to try it and see how it all goes. :D

Depends on how long ago you did it. Once a month is good. About 15 minutes. It's sort of like straightening up a filing cabinet. As you put files in and move files around and pull some files to toss them out. Eventually you have used all the drawers up. Now you straighten (defrag) the files up and place them in order. You have condensed them to 1 or 2 drawers versus all 4. Now you only have to check 2 of the 4 drawers. Confuse you yet? I did me. Whew.

Yes, it does help the computer, and it's recommended that you do it once a week.
It can take a long time if you haven't done it in a while, but doing it weekly should keep the defrag times down to a tolerable level.

It does take some time if it needs it really bad, but will speed up after doing the defrag.. I check mine every couple of weeks if it says to defrag if it does not then I wait another week and check again...

Not really but it's depend of the capacity size of your hard drive i think it's better to defrag twice a month it help the os and other program to work smoothly because they arrange the data files in the correct position in the hard disk

It would depend on how often you do it and how fragmented your drive is. Its like treatment for a disease, treat it when its showing its initial symptoms and you need to take only very few medicines. Let it grow serious and you will have trouble. You can use the analyse feature to decide whether you need to or not. If you do it regularly, each time it hardly takes a few minutes. Some people run it onec a year, and if the drive is badly cluttered, it may take a very long time, 10-15 hours too.

You should 'defrag' your hard drives once or twice a month just to keep them in order. You can have the defrag program run overnight without any problems.

Yes, Hun, it can. As hard drives have gotten bigger and bigger and we put more and more files on them, it can take several hours, especially if you don't have that much free space.
I use O&O defrag, which is running all the time, and so I never have to do these big one off scans, as it will tidy up little bits all the time.
