After having problems with XP, I took the hard drive out, installed it as a slave drive in another computer, I tried to fix it with the XP repair console but it still wouldn't start up. So I re-installed XP (not a clean install) and it started fine up fine when I switched it to the primary drive. But when I put the hard drive back in the original computer, all I get is the start up screen (that says windows xp) then it goes to the screen saying that it had a problem starting and would I like to start normally or safe mode etc. I can't get past this. Any idea what I should look for since it started fine in one and not the other? It's a Dell Dimension 4600i.

I'm sorry I neglected to mention that I cannot start it in safe mode nor can I start it with a startup CD. I did set the bios to start from CD first, then hard drive but the same thing happens when I try to start from the CD.
