Only for exprerienced PC repair people:
My computer locks up and the screen goes blank 5 minutes after booting EVERY time. Here's what it's not:
1) I know it is not RAM. I have singled out every stick and ran extensive memory tests. No change in results.
2) It is not software or hard drive. I have booted to a linux bootable CD (hard drive unplugged) and it still locked up 5 minutes after boot.
3) It is not the video card. I have swapped video cards to find the same result.

All fans are running fine; I do not believe it is a heat issue. I do not have another power supply with me, but would that cause the computer to lock up at the exact same time every time? Processor and Motherboard are fairly new - all POST tests look fine with them. I'm running out of parts to swap. Has anyone seen anything exactly like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'll be watching a video and then in about five minutes the video will freeze along with the computer. For some reason streaming a video uses 100% CPU usage... I have a gig of RAM and I know it's not buffer related because the whole video buffers in about a minute. Any suggestions please?

Hey basically I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ AM2 processor intsalled on my computer and I am planning on upgrading. The processor I am interested in purchasing is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz. Now I dont know much about how a motherboard works but Im currently thinking this will work because both are AM2 processors but Im not entirely sure because one is an X2 and I dont now if anything else makes a difference? So I though I would ask before wasting good money on the processor for it to not fit. If you need any more info todetermine if it will work just let me know and I will provide it I just want to sort this asap. Thanks

When I turn on my computer I get a message across the monitor say that the computer is not communicating with the monitor. I can hear the computer booting up, the hard drive spinning and all of that. The busy light on the computer is also on and working.
Any thoughts on what is wrong?

I have a Dimension 3000 3ghz, that is abit old and has started to fail on me. Before i completely dies, i want to upgrade to something similar but am having a hard time finding something with 3ghz +. All i see are machines with 2.8 that say intel core due processor...what is that? does that mean that the chip is two chips in one but each is 2.8 making it 5.6??
I see a great deal on a machine with 1.86 that i would like to purchase if the actual speed is 3.72

after taking pictures, i have always uploaded them on the computer by taking the SD memory card and placing it what i learned is the F: drive, and they upload just fine. lately when i put the memory card in the drive nothing happens, when i go into my computer and click on the "SD/MMC (F:)" it says to insert F: disk.

it never did that before! haha also when i click the little green arrow that appears in the tool bar it says to safely remove hardware.

im not sure what to do because i dont have my camera cord anymore and have no way of uploading my pictures now hahah

thankss

Hi Guys,
my last PC finally died a few months ago due to over-exhertion and a few nasty viruses. Anyway, i've finally got some money together to buy a new one. A mate of mine is selling his because he needs the money for a house he's buying.
The spec for the PC is as follows:

AMD 3200+ 2.0ghz processor
1GB Ram
100GB Hard Drive
XFX G-Force 6 Series graphics card

also comes with two 512MB memory sticks and full surround sound system.

Does anyone know if this is a good machine or not, and roughly how much it should be selling for?
