Hi Guys,
my last PC finally died a few months ago due to over-exhertion and a few nasty viruses. Anyway, i've finally got some money together to buy a new one. A mate of mine is selling his because he needs the money for a house he's buying.
The spec for the PC is as follows:

AMD 3200+ 2.0ghz processor
1GB Ram
100GB Hard Drive
XFX G-Force 6 Series graphics card

also comes with two 512MB memory sticks and full surround sound system.

Does anyone know if this is a good machine or not, and roughly how much it should be selling for?

Good enough for home use but it is not an exciting PC. Without monitor, it could be worth $250 -300.

Dell will make a PC to your specifications and they are a great job I speak from experience.

I have a Dell Dimension 3100
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 512 with HT Technology (2.80GHz, 1MB L2 cache 800 FSB)

Genuine Windows XP Home Edition.

1024MB DDR.

80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

19 Inch Analogue Flat Panel Monitor.

Integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 900.

16xDVD/-RW Drive.

Microsoft Works 7.0.

1 Year Collect and Return (Car Service)

It's over a year old at this stage and going like a dream.
With regard to Service I had a problem re: software and they sent me on that Disk and 5 more with various Applications on just for the inconvenience.

What More can I say.

All for €750.00

It was a very good computer about 2 years ago!

Honestly, 2nd hand I wouldn't pay much more than about £150 ($300) for it as none of those components are up-to-date and have probably been running for two years and will probably start to fail soonish.

It's not a bad computer and for home use, Internet surfing, playing a few games etc you'll probably be fine.

@too_tall015 - What planet are you on? Alienware make super high end gaming PC's they are not really suitable for 'home use' - Freaking moron! Step away from the crack pipe!!!!

Hope this helps!

$300

It is not that good but if it is all you can afford at this time then maybe it is good enough.

I assume that is not an AMD X2 3300
X2 means dual processor, a big plus in its value
Currently they are selling Nvidia 8 series video cards so a 6 series video card is not worth much.

Per eBay completed listings less monitor and speakers
Desktop computer with 1GB RAM and AMD 3200
$100 to $160 plus $19-$60 shipping. (US Dollars)

Find a similar speaker system at newegg.com and discount it 50% and add it to the eBay price range.

Does it come with a monitor? If it is a CRT add at most $30. If it an LCD monitor figure it is worth about half the price of a new similar monitor. (Assuming you even want it)

If youre not going into hardcore gaming and just doing internet surfing and office programs its fine. I would say around $300. But it's a good average comp.

PS: mailliam (nice palendronic name) Dells suck and your comp sucks..it has an 80Gb harddrive, intergrated graphics, and DDR RAM.

well it matters what your going to be using it for and personally I dont think so seeing how my computer is about 2 years old:

AMD with 2.2 ghz
1 gb
138 gb hard drive
and a gforce 6800

and thats so far out of date already

alienware.com would be the place to go for good fast computers

dells I personally think suck there cheap but only due to low qulity items used and other then that I dont know what to tell you I had mine custom made
