I've had my Mac for a while and it has a lot of important files on it. Is there a cheap and easy way to fix the pixel without losing any files?

After some research, I have discovered that it is not a dead pixel, but a stuck pixel. I hae tried to run an application called JScreenFix, but it didn't work. Any advice in fixing this pixel?

Its the monitor. LCDs have millions of crystals run by millions of transitors. The transistor determines what angle the crystals are at which in turn determines what color the light shining thru it appears as on your screen. When a transitor doesn't work your crystal is stuck at whatever angle and color its at. There is something called "pixel criteria" which is used with replacing monitors and most wont replace a monitor with less than 8 dead pixels. but some will replace a monitor with only 1 deal pixel. Only thing to do is call apple or whoever you bought the monitor from and see what their policy is for replacing it. Sometimes, althou rare, the transitor will suddenly wake up and the problem goes away.

There are certain .Gif pictures that look like 'Snow' on a TV set with no input that can fix certain dead pixels. If one of these images doesn't fix it, take the computer to an Apple Genius.

the only achieveable answer that i could advise to do from house is gently rub down the spot the place the pixel is. This sometimes fix's the pixel, if not the only determination left is sending it in to a fix save.

One dead pixel? That's not going to affect your files in any way. It shouldn't affect anything.

Call Apple, submit a tech support ticket, wait for a reply, send it in, wait a week or so, have it sent back, and you're back up!
Or, use a PC.

Is it new, still under warranty. If not, hmmmm, don't look at that spot. Can be costly if not under warranty.

This is why you should use a PC -- just change the monitor.
