I want to order a dell. Should I get an extended warranty on it or is this not worth it?

A recent article by Consumer Reports asked if warranties were really worth the extra money. Dell computers are inexpensive anyway, so if something goes wrong within the three year period, you would probably spend less to fix it on your own than to worry about paying for additional coverage with a warranty. I would not waste your money; it is just the company's way of getting more from your pocketbook.

Extended warranties are usually a losing proposition, but with computers it is different. With ALL computers, it is worth getting an extended warranty. Kimber 740 is wrong dell does NOT use any parts that cant be replaced with anything off the shelf.

Dell parts are proprietary (sp?) meaning if something goes wrong .. you can only use Dell parts to fix. That is why my school does NOT order dell. Does that tell you anything? So if you order Dell consider it. Also depends how much it is?
