I bought a gainward 7600GT card and checked my motherboard's manual to make sure it has a PCIe slot and not just AGP or PCI. I have a Dell 3100 the m/board model is 82915G/Gv/910GL.
The documents with the video card said to beware because "some m/boards violate specifications" and so the card may not physically fit.

This sounds ridiculous to me and I can't believe there is not a universal PCIe slot. My motherboard's looks like ---- --- but the card looks like ----- (if that makes sense).

Can someone explain this? I just don't get it are Dell just being really annoying?

It's a Plextor PX-740A dual-layer drive. It came with a grab box that I purchased on eBay for about $13.00, which included some other stuff. It only reads discs, but won't write them. It's in great physical condition, I was wondering if I should resell it cheap on eBay as a unit that needs repair, or if I should get it fixed (or maybe fix it myself if possible). Or should I just toss it in the trash can? It retails for about $60 to $100 (I think).

Recently, i bought a brand new ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 Edition, and on the box it says it is for AGP Buses. After i read the manual, it said that it is for a 8x/4x AGP slot. I have a VIA P4ma Pro (the 533 supporting one), and it have a 4x/2x AGP slot. I have't try it and please tell me if it will work, because it took me almost one year to find this "rare" graphic card.
Thx

He seems quite happy with it. Says he is running WoW full spec, no problems. I was wondering what games i could get him that would work well with his system. I was thinking Halo and Lego Star Wars 2 would be a start. But i'm just not sure what will run well. I just found out today that there are 6200s out there for about the same price we got him his FX 5500 but i heard those are unreliable. Do i have a reason to feel bad? Or should the FX 5500 be fine?

I'm looking at buying this video card http://www.newegg.com/product/produ...

Would a 6800GT be better? What's the performance difference?

Recently upgraded my 6600gt graphics card to an x850xt pe (agp). Ran 3DMark03 and my score went from 7800 to 12100 which was promising, but when it comes to games the performance increase is minimal, as an example, the Lost Coast benchmark score went from 65.32 to 67.62.
Another odditiy is that with my new card the average fps stays pretty much the same whether I'm playing in 800 x 600 resolution right up to 1280 x 1024. Is this an example of the CPU bottlenecking the graphics card? Here's the rest of my system:

AMD XP2600+ Mobile Barton @ 2.3Ghz
1GB PC3200 DDR RAM
250GB SATA HD

I noticed that professional video cards like nvidias quadro fx cost a lot more than even the newest GeForce 8 series cards, and was wondering what the difference is between video cards used for prerendered graphics and real-time rendering cards like the new GeForce 8 series? I mean, if I bought an nvidia quadro fx, would I be able to use it to play games, or just for 3d animation?

I bought a Dell that was around 1200 dollars. It has 2 GB ram, 256 Gforce MB graphics card, and 2.5 GHZ. Can you please tell me if this computer will support gaming well? For example Battlefield 2, Guild Wars, ect. I was pretty sure that I upgraded my Dell to a decent gaming computer, since the ram and graphic card are good enough for gaming.

It goes to a corner of the screen (not always the same one) in an instant and it takes me a while to work out where it is and get it back again. This happens it two different games so far (I have only played three) - one is B&W 2, the other F.E.A.R. where I end up looking at the ceiling or floor and spinning on the spot for a second or two - very annoying. I have an optical logitec mouse and no mouse mat.

- could it just be the mouse getting confused with the pattern of whatever I am using for a mat? it seems unlikely as some mats have patterns on them... and it hasn't happened in the third game (supreme commander) or at least not that I have noticed.

Any help appreciated.

Hi! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and I am trying to buy a 250 gig hard drive on ebay. The seller says that the cord that comes with it is a SATA cord and it is supposed to connect to the motherboard. Does my computer allow that?
Should I buy it?
Thanks for helping!

I'm having trouble with all the USB ports on my PC. It's an older PC, but it has Windows XP on it. In my system, it says my devices are working properly, but when I connect things to the ports, it tells me I have new hardware and my computer prompts me for my installation CD. I no longer have the original XP disk because I didn't download it myself. Is there a way for me to find some other driver that can help me? The system says there's nothing wrong with the reports but I can't transfer files from my usb stick, put any music on my cellphone, or do anything else that requires a USB connection. I've been on Microsoft's site for the better part of the day. I've updated my computer a few times but it hasn't helped. Went to Intel's site because they manufactured ports, but they sent me back to Microsoft. What else can I do to get my ports working? I don't have the XP disk, so I can't look to that for help.
