my friend gave me a computer,(not the one im on. im on my own computer)it's windows 98. i tried to hook a mouse up to it but it woulden't work beacuse i dont have the windows 98 disk. that computer also has no internet. so how can hook up the mouse? where can i get a disk for free?

when i plug the mouse in there is no arrow even showing up.

You will have to get the win98 drivers for the mouse. Since you have the mouse with you, check it model name and make and google it as - 'make modelnumber windows98 driver". Download it, burn it on a cd or copy it in a floppy.
copy this driver into your friends pc and do the following steps in this troublsome pc.
1.settings>control Panel>add hardware
2. windows will scan for new hardware and will find the mouse
3. point to where you have copied the driver files and install.

The only issue is you may have to do the entire thing using your keyboard and shortcut keys.

A Win98 computer is probably old enough that it uses a serial or PS2 mouse. You don't hook it up with a disk, you just plug it in. Normally in Win98, the arrow cursor just hangs there in the middle of the screen if you don't have a mouse.
