For HD video, 8500GT is better BUT for 3D graphics (games), the 7600GS has the edge.

The 8500GT ddr3 is at par w/ 7300GT ddr3 performance, so that PNY 8500GT ddr2 would be slower. Take note that 256Mb ddr3 will ALWAYS beat 512Mb ddr2. 512Mb is not always fully utilized in many games.

the 8500 will give you direct x 10 and DDR3. the 7600 can't give either. The next generation of games will probably use dx 10(you will also need vista), so it's the best choice
