Yes. SP2 containg about the first 80 or so security updates, and it cures a bunch of Windows glitches. After you install SP2 there will still be about 80 or so more security patches that you will need to download and install. Service Pack 2 is, for the most part, all about security.

the clue is in the name "service pack"

you need it to most importantly fix security flaws that have been found, then there are other issues besides.

look at it this way, say you had a car.. the bonet catch had a fault where it would flip open and cover the windscreen.. would u get it fixed or not?
