I formated my 4GB USB Key in Windows XP (Don't ask why). After, everytime I tried opening it, it would ask me to format the disk, after trying to format, it would always fail. After trying different ways to get it formatted, including using my Mac. Now it lost it's partition, thinking that it was 128GB (Yes I said 128GB). I finally used my Mac to partition the drive, by making a 4GB partition and left the rest as free space. Now it says that it's a 64GB drive and it opens on XP. I'm in the process of trying to copy over 40GB worth of Data on to the USB Key to see what happens, so far it's still copying. Any ideas what happened, and why?

I had this in my old comp and it worked fine, but I can't seem to get it to work now. The device manager recognizes the hardware and has it listed in disk drives. I need to know how to change it's location to D:\ or E:\ and make sure it will burn my discs. Can anyone help me?

Maybe I sound silly, but my friend just told me tonight about something he called a "thumb" driver, which is basically an external USB flash drive that you can use to store data. It simply hooks up to your CPU via your USB port, and you are good to go.

What I am wondering is if I can use one to store music on. I know it is not a music player, but I am in the process of changing my WMA files to MP3 files to conserve room on my hard drive, and I was thinking this would be an excellent place to store music.

Also, I was wondering if I buy one of these tiny drives, can I play files directly from them? So if I had a bunch of MP3 files stored on one, could I just open it up with the help of my Windows Media Player and access the music from the external flash drive and listen to it on my computer while I do other things? That would be really convenient, as I wouldn't have to have a disc in the disc drive when I was doing something else.

Any help or information is appreciated.

I have 2 computers

one is AMD 32bit 2500MHz with 256MB Ram and 64MB GForce 2 AGP Graphic Card. Motherboard Brand Gigabyte AMD K7

Other one is P4 2400MHz with 256MB Ram and 128MB Radeon 9200 SE Graphic Card. Motherboard Brand is MSI Neo2.

Both PCs are installed same OS (From Same CD With Same Key) Windows XP Servise Pack 2. And Both MotherBoards are USB 2.0 rated.

But When I connect my Flash Drive which is USB 2.0 rated to my AMD machine, I got a ballon message from system menu saying that "This Device Can Perform Faster" heading. I think this is a common problem.

But when I connect the same flash drive into P4 machine, I dont get such a message.

When I get that Message, Speed of my flash drive is less than 2.0 So it takes more than 20min to copy 1GB of data. Its a terible case.

Can anyone Help me to get the advantages of USB 2.0 speed.
Any help appreciated.
Thnx in advanced.
