How long have you use your scroll mouse?
It might be dead already.
New optical mouse now is very cheap

Try cleaning the contact rollers inside the mouse (where the ball touches the rest of the mouse). Make sure you scrape away any grime and gum. If that doesn't work, get a new mouse (a simple PS2 mouse with a roller ball is only a few bucks).

sounds like it is tired, get another, my sister just gave me her old one and works better than the one i used. mine was just worn out. she didn't use hers very much anyway. you get aggravated even when you try to play a game or i did.
