i have a new headset and mic and cant get either one to work

easy go to control panel and go to sounds and audio device ,and click on it. where it says volume, there a square box check it and in the bottom of ur screen u will see a tyny speaker on your right click with your mouse right button and u will figure out the rest it easy don't sweet it

Did you install the drivers for the sound card????? Are you plugging the mic and headset into the proper jacks? If you need a new sound card try this store:

do what every one suggested and swap or change the plug in from one in plug to the other on the phone plug in mine worked after changing

Silly question but are you sure they are thoroughly plugged in
