You sure can! You need to find the ide bus cable running to your c.d. rom drive, it should have 2 channles on it.. if one is open there you go.. just mark it as slave. and mark your rom drive as sec. master / slave, most of the time the optical drive is already set this way. To set it.. look for the 3-4 sets of 2 pins all by them selves there will be a black little device on there that goes around them. Take that and put it where it needs to go.. there should be indicators on top of the h.d.

no you cant, you can run only one or the other, they are incompatable with each other
