I have tried to do a degragmentation and a virus check. it is still doing it though. the sound it makes is kinda like when you hold a button on the keyboard down too long.

that means a program is freezing up on you just press(crtl+alt) at the same time and press delete it will tell you what program is freezing when it hightlighted ok and press end task that all

Clean your mouse. What kind of mouse do you have? I think that a button is stuck. Unplug your mouse and clean it out -- you can use the canned wind that you use on the keyboard or a dust brush. (I pop out the trackball and clean the contacts and then I shake the mouse upside down to get the "crumbs" out.)

Viruses, turn your computer on and off 5 times by holding the power switch down, not by the Start toolbar.
