Hardware - September 2007

The problem started when i kept the monitor off for 3-4 hours.Mine is CRT LG monitor.I tried degauss but it didn't workout.Flickering is reduced to a good extent after sometime of my work.Also the screen goes full green during shutdown.Please help.Thanks in advance.

It is a Fujitsu laptop. 3.2 Ghz and 1GB memory. When I turn it on, it would go through the Windows startup screen and then go to this black screen which says it does not detect the last boot (or something like that) and it gives me option to start Windows normally, or go the last known Windows setting. I have tried both, but it still goes back to the restart mode and goes through the Windows start up screen and comes back to the same message. Can anyone help and let me know what is wrong? Also, I tried inserting the restore disc that came with the laptop, and it hasn't done anything either... I have some things saved on the laptop and I would like to not to lose it... Please help.

I want to get a new computer, i use my PC mostly for music and photos and internet. I need a lot of storage space for music and pictures. I love the way Macs look, and they seem really simple to use. I dont have a huge amount of space for big towers or monitors. I've been advised against Macs by a few people as they say you cant upgrade them etc...
But im not a tech guy, im into music and art and want a computer to do this on, i dont care if my computer has the latest components or not, provided it does what i want it to.

Hi,

Bought a laptop (above details). Does not load up, only message come on screen says:

"Disassembley prohibited" and a few other details. The cursor flashes on screen but I cannot input any information onto the laptop.

Sony has said I need back up disks but I do not have these. Does any one know where I could get some of these from or alternatively what to do with the laptop?

Any help is greatly appreciated :-)

My father bought me a 2nd hand PC here's the specs:
CPU= Intel Pentium 4 1.60GHz
Bios=Phoenix-awardBIOS v6.00PG
MotherBoard=P4M266-8233
Max Clock Speed: 1592MHz
CurrentCLockSpeed= 1592 MHz
ExtClock:100 MHz

The RAM card I saw was 2pcs of 256MB PC266/PC2100,, I want to upgrade my Memory into 2 pcs of 1GB. A total of 2GB. But when I go to look for PC266/PC2100 on computer store, they said that it was already phase out and DDR-400/PC3200, DDR2-400/PC2-3200 is their only available stock. I wonder if this two types (DDR2-400 and DDR-400) are compatible with my PC,, Can you please help me? I have no idea on this.

i have two questions:
1) is it possible to hook up a 4 pin molex connector to a case fan? because im going to build a computer with 3 or 4 fans, however i only have 2 connectors designated as "fan only" while im gonna have a lot of spare molex connectors

2) what is a 4 pin cpu connector? i first heard about it on this site under the tech specs

i have just puchased a hp pavilion entertainment notebook pc. (dv6000) it currently has the intel graphics media accelerator. it woks somewhat well for games with older fps and rts games but not for newer ones. i know that both ati and nvidea makes cards for laptops but i cannot find anywhere to buy one. does it have to come in the pc from the factory or can i install one myself?

hi, i have a canon powershot SD900. I also have an imac computer (with ilife 08) how can i record alot of video (like 20 min. of none stop video) and import it on my computer? While print with canon mp160 using CISS system.. ink tank shows that the ink is low.. but it still can print. Why this happen? I had checked my CISS its working very well. But the tank still show ink tank low.

My 6 month old A/C adapter/charger for my laptop just stopped working, why? Is there a reason this might have happened since I know intend on buying a new one and don't want it to happen again. Is there some way I can check the one I have out to see if I can get it to work again. Thanks.
