I want to get a new computer, i use my PC mostly for music and photos and internet. I need a lot of storage space for music and pictures. I love the way Macs look, and they seem really simple to use. I dont have a huge amount of space for big towers or monitors. I've been advised against Macs by a few people as they say you cant upgrade them etc...
But im not a tech guy, im into music and art and want a computer to do this on, i dont care if my computer has the latest components or not, provided it does what i want it to.

You're a good candidate for Macs. I use both Macs and PCs, so I'm not going to try to convince you one way or the other. Macs are definitely cool - the hardware, the look, etc. They're also pretty secure against viruses, spyware, etc.

Based on what you described, I think you'd love a Mac. You just need to take stock of any software you currently use, and make sure it's compatible with Mac. When you buy the computer, get the max RAM, of course. But, if you're looking for tons of storage space, you can buy an external Maxtor drive for fairly cheap to store extra stuff on, backups, etc.

I own a PC network, but I do have to use MAC's on a daily basis. I use it as part of the media team, making movies and video editing etc.

Being a PC user myself, I would always stick to a PC, mainly because they are cheaper, and easier to upgrade. If you want more RAM, you know all you need to do go out, buy some, and put it in.

Also, the myth of the "virus free MAC". there are mac viruses, but as PC is more popular, and more well known worldwide, PC users are targeted more than the MAC users.

At home, i mainly do music, photos, internet, email, use general office software.

I also do a lot of music and photo editing, and my PC handles this fine.

Cost wise, I can build a top of the range spec PC, including Vista HomePremium for £570, so they really are cheaper, and more compatible.

I would say PC all the way, but at the end of the day it's just my view and opinion.

As a general rule, if you've always been a MAC user, stay with MAC, if you've always been a PC user, stick with PC.

If you're used to both, well then you have a bit of choice!

When a mac user "upgrades" they buy a new system a PC user can upgrade any part in the system individually, something that a mac cannot.
The bottom line for me is that a comparable pc is cheaper than a mac, and it doesn't have to be a biege box there are hundreds of companys with designs as good/better than apple, they just aren't as high profile.

Talk about opening a can of worms! There seems to be an ongoing war/debate between Mac and PC users as to which platform is the easiest, best, most wonderful etc to use.

The bottom line is to go for what you're comfortable with and are used to using. If you've been using a PC for the majority of your computer using life than go for a PC or vice versa with Macs.

I have been a dedicated Mac user since secondary school (they used them there). And on a more subjective note I'd like to say that you can upgrade Macs - it is nonsense to say you can't. They are without a doubt the easiest machines in the world to use. I bought my iMac over four years ago. When I got it home, I whipped it out of the box and got it up in running in 10 minutes!

This question has only one answer .........Mac
Why.....simple it is like getting two computers for the price of one. The new Macs can run its native os "OSX" and Windows on the same system and with the use of the Parallels program you can run them at the same time and even have them running on a split screen on the monitor and drag and drop files between the two OSs.

The best of two worlds and the best deal dollar wise.
Upgrading for most people is not really a big deal.....I use my systems until the newest systems are so much faster or better-- then I replace them.........Upgrading continually is a pain and is usually more expensive....and if you use your computer mostly for music and pictures then it'll be a good number of years before you'll get the urge to do any upgrading.

extra promoting, a extra suitable promoting team, effortless layout, homogeneity. laptop is quite any computing gadget no longer a mac, and of direction they'll run the gamut in high quality/value/layout. consequently the only factor that Macs somewhat have over each and every laptop is they might run Apple proprietary application. there is likewise a picture factor that i'm noticing with Macs. with the aid of their branding and promoting Macs are pointed out as "cooler" than their laptop counterpart in specific subcultures. i'm because of the fact a good number of you placed down 'virus unfastened' as between the appropriate execs of a mac. That in spite of the incontrovertible fact that has to do with the Unix based working gadget run on the Mac quite than the Mac itself. If laptop clientele are so susceptible, they might additionally get an epidemic unfastened working gadget in between the numerous Linux flavors.

Desktop space wise, the iMac is the way to go. The only cord I have plugged into mine is the power cord. I've got the wireless keyboard and mouse, the iMac is wi-fi ready. You also get a remote control so if you wanted to watch DVDs, you don't even need the keyboard. My iMac works great, has all the software I need and I am a tech person. Upgrade what? I got it with the RAM I wanted and the hard drive I needed. I just use it instead of messing with BIOS and daily virus scans and updates.

Myself, I prefer PCs, but hey, who am I? For what you are trying to do either one would probably be okay. Go to the store and try out a MAC
