I need to get rid of my password for BOIS, 'cuz I lost it and don't remember it, and I heard that I can just use the Clear CMOS jumper pin on the motherboard to do so... So what does the Clear CMOS pin do? And would I just flip the switch and flip it back, or would I flip it and reboot?

The battery in my 1-year old MacBook Pro seems to die faster than usual. I'll charge it all night, for example, and the battery will die within a half an hour to an hour (when before it would last for much longer.) My settings have not changed -- I use energy saver and normal for battery life. Should I get it checked out, or is there something I can do to fix it myself?

i am connected to a router with a different computer in the house to get internet. I have a Dell XPS with a Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz)/dual core,1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 20" ultra sharp monitor, 256MB ATI Hyper Memory PCI- Express X16 Radeon X600 SE, and a 80GB Serial ATA hard drive (7200 RPM) Is this video card good enough for Battlefield2 it seems to run well but sometimes takes a while to load. Should I try to upgrade if so what and how much?

Okay, heres my senerio....

I accidently deleted SAFARI from my MacBook and i had to reinstall OSX in order to get it back.

My problem is that when i reinstalled OSX it gave me this previous systems folder that has all the same stuff my current OSX has already. Is this previous systems folder nessisary? is it eating up my hard disk? can i just simple drag it to the trash can? please help i only get 120GB on this thing as is... the last think i need is a bulky folder that i cant do a thing with. please list you exprience with mac's. and if your some PC pushing pinhead, go stick it in your usb port

I am running windows XP with a AMD sempron 2300+ processer.

now according to everest my Motherboard temp is 36c (97F)
the processor is running at 63c (145F)
and harddrive is at 40c (104F)

i am not gaming just have the internet going and my messengers.

I only have 28 processers running in total and the side of my PC is off.

How can i cool things down a bit as i think its very hot to be safe

my dads getting me a mac book for my birthday (tommorow) atleast i hope he is ;P. i wanted to know if i should still stick with the macbook, or get a reguar pc. the people at bestbuy said i can put windows XP on my mac, so i can play on windows OR mac, or both at the same time. the highschool that im going to uses macs (so does every onther school ive been to) so i was wondering if that would be an advantage for me. the down side to the mac is that the web cam that comes with it only works with " i-chat" (you can only chat with people who hav other macs. so? what should i do?

I bought a MacBook Pro and the thing is a complete pile of sh!t. It doesn't work with any cool games, the battery life sucks and the keyboard is sized like it was made for a fourth grader. I don't know about other adults, but I'm definitely not pleased with this overpriced POS. Anyone else find themselves in the same boat? I think I'm going to eBay this sh!t and buy a cheap (adult sized) PC laptop.

Well my Ram is supposed to be 1024MB (1gb) but its says 896MB on the Ram test and that means the 128 MB for Graphics is coming out of my Ram and to check why that happened I found out that it says Nvidia 6100 using available PCI-Express slot on the box but when I cracked open the case to find out that theres no Graphics card at all let alone a Nvidia 6100. I got the PC a year ago from Bestbuy so what should I do I lost the Receipt and now should I take it back to Bestbuy or something else. If you know please tell me. Thanks. I have a Gateway GT4016 Media Center PC.

I have a socket LGA775. The processor that came with my computer is a P4 extreme, I just found a good deal for a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz for $269.99, do these even come close to the Core 2 extreme??? I also dont want to spend anymore money on cooling products, I already have 4 120mm fans (2 intake on side panal, 1 top exhaust, and 1 back exhaust) i want to know if thats enough for a hog quad core....

Okay, im a new college student, have an average budget and need a laptop. One proble, i dont really know which one would be best for me.
Here's what I need it for:
*I'm into art, so i would be using a photoshop and graphite pen tablet.
*I love my music, so i'll be listening to it quite a lot.
*I dont do much gaming, so, dont really have to worry about that.
*I will be doing research and taking notes (woo whoo)
*I love taking pictures, so alotta pics are probably going to be on it.
*It needs to be on the tough side, because, im a bit clumsy at times.
*I love burning CDs, DVDs, and rewritting, so..... yeah
*oh, and sometimes, i need things to load quick, online and on my computer
Sorry to sound picky lol.
What laptop do you think is best for me? I was thinking the MacBook, but, im not an expert lol

Hi! I just bought a really nice Alienware PC, with a great graphics card (NVIDIA 8800 GTS), but I got the cheapest processor I found (2.0 ghz) because I didn't think it was too important. Now, when I play some of the new DX10 games, they look amazing, but it lags a hell of a lot! My guess is I chose the wrong processor for the job. I would just like to know what kind of speed I should replace it with (if I can), where I can find it for the least money, and how to uninstall my old one and put in the new one! Thanks!
