I have a socket LGA775. The processor that came with my computer is a P4 extreme, I just found a good deal for a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz for $269.99, do these even come close to the Core 2 extreme??? I also dont want to spend anymore money on cooling products, I already have 4 120mm fans (2 intake on side panal, 1 top exhaust, and 1 back exhaust) i want to know if thats enough for a hog quad core....

Yes it does have 4 cores, woo hoo, but not everything can use two cores, let alone 4, so in a great many cases the Core 2 Extreme will outperform the Q6600. And if you are talking about the quad core Core 2 Extreme, of course it will be better since it is faster. That said. don't pay $1000 for a Core 2 Extreme, just too much money. The slight performance gain is not worth an extra $700, no way. As for cooling, as long as you don't overclock, you should be fine. Lastly, make sure your motherboard will support the Core 2s, just because it is socket 775 does not mean it will support them.

No matter how xtreme a core 2 can be, a Quad processor has FOUR cores!!!!!!!

The socket is the same by the way, but not all 775 motherboards can use a quad core.

Cheers ^_^
