Hello, I have had this Gateway E-4000 for about 5 years now and its been doing decently for any games that I play on it. I have upgraded the old video card to an ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series. I have also upgraded the RAM from 128 to 256MB. All the other hardware has not been updated since i bought it. The times my computer seems to struggle most is during online games. In a counterstrike-source server with 20+ players, if I'm not in a small room i normally get 9-11 FPS. It also takes me a lot longer than most when I am loading into games. I have about $200 to start out with and I am wondering what I should start to upgrade first, my video card or RAM, and if it would even be compatible with my computer. I do intend to get a new desktop in the future and would like for any upgrades I make now to be compatiple on the next desktop I purchase.

Thanks for your time!
-Chris

I'm going to be a sophomore in high school this year and I really want my own desktop. I don't know anything about buying a computer. I'm looking for something under $1000, preferably under $700. I just would do stuff on it like homework/school projects, surf the net, download music, instant message, watch DVD's and maybe play a few games. But I'm not a major gamer or anything. I also do not want to get a mac. So what kind of computer should I get? And it would be really helpful if you could include a link. Thanks!

I have a Radeon X300 Graphics Card in my HP Media Center m7170n Computer. The Computer is 3 years old. I have an Intel Pentium 830 D Processor Dual Core and 2 GB Ram. I know the Graphics Card is not very good but like to buy a 24 inch Monitor with a Resolution of 1920x1200. Would my Graphics card be good enough to get the most benefit out of the monitor? Thank You

This is what I am trying to do
1) Brighten your screen (Not too much)
2) Right click on your desktop and click properties
3) Click settings and then click on the "Advanced" button
4) Now click on monitor and under screen refresh rate, choose a higher refresh rate.
But I am stuck on step 4 the refresh rate my computer is set on is set on 75 hertz and step 4 says to choose the higher refresh rate well is 85 or 72 hertz the higher refresh rate?? Thanks!!

I mean, it really gets so hot that I cannot have it on my lap.
Also the mouse touchpad gets very warm almost hot, my fingers start feeling sore after a while.
I bought this laptop about 3 months ago. Is this normal?

I am trying to decide on specs for a new computer. Are there different connectors for each port. Or do you want all three for flexibility

I am building a new pc and can't decide which video card to get. I currently have a Radeon 1600 516mb that a friend gave me, but I am thinking about getting a directx 10 one, like a 2400 or a 8600. However, the 8600 I am looking at has only 256 mb of video memory. What does video memory actually mean? Should I get the newer video card with less memory or an older card with more memory? Basically, I am asking which video card is better.

Ok let me rephrase my last question. Are there any hard drives for my computer that are at least 4.0 GB. I need to buy one that's enough for Call of Duty 2 for the pc. like maybe 5 or 6GB. So I'm asking if there are stores that sell any 4 5 or 6 GB hard drives?

I just got a new video card, and after I installed it my sound card didn't work anymore. I'm wondering if it's cause I accidentally touched and it got misplaced or something...I know it's not broken because it's pretty new and I was wondering if I need to take apart the back of my computer and just re-insert the sound card...?

I have an HP Deskjet 5740. it's a color printer with a color cartridge in it.
Whenever i try to print something in color, it doesn't let me. The paper comes out blank.
I've checked the ink levels and the color carttridge is full, so it's not out of ink.
But I don't know why it won't print in color.
Someone help???

I wanted to find out the maximum memory capacity on my computer is.

I have an HP Pavillion Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.4GHz, 1.49 GB of RAM

I wanted to buy another 1GB stick of DDR RAM, because it's on sale right now for so cheap, but when i went to www.crucial.com, it says my maximum memory capacity is 2GB...

I've heard people say though that crucial.com can sometimes be off, so i didn't just want to take their word. But at the same time, i don't want to by a gig, if my computer can only take 512MB more...

So how else, other than referring to that site, can i find out what the max amount of RAM i can put on my computer is??
