I mean, it really gets so hot that I cannot have it on my lap.
Also the mouse touchpad gets very warm almost hot, my fingers start feeling sore after a while.
I bought this laptop about 3 months ago. Is this normal?

You may have a failing fan inside of the laptop - I'd contact HP and have them walk you through checking it out.

If there's nothing wrong with the fans, then I'd look into getting a laptop cooling pad:

LOL Laptops are not really designed to be used on the lap! My HP Pavillion has the fan in the centre of the base - so if you are using it on the lap, make sure the fan is free and able to get air. Otherwise you stand the risk of getting a fried hard drive - which is sooo not good!!

It will get warm usually but not hott, you dont want to put it on your lap either though, most companys dont refer to them as "Laptops" anymore because of this overheating issue of blocking the exhaust fan. Try puting it on a hard surface for a bit and see if it still get rather hott, if it does call hp and they should have you set up a repair, you dont want your processor to overheat because if you happen to get out of warranty with this problem, repairs can get rather expensive

yeah they do get hot i would get a systm monitor program to make sure it dosen't get to hot if your battery has a problem it could be a dangerous result if it pops. unlikely though but id check it out better safe than sorry.
