I need to connrct it to may second desktop downstairs. What equipment do i need. I think i need either wireless USB adapter or network card. I am going with USB card if i have to buy an equipment. But i dont know if i have to buy one specific to my wireless router. Please help me out. Thank you

No, all wireless cards and wireless routers are compatible -- 802.11a/b/c/d/e/f/g/n

You need a wireless adapter (dongle) which you shove in the usb. Get a good one and pick up any wireless router signal. They work fine with desktops too.
