Time on my PC monitor changes with old date. I don't know why?

your cmos battery is probably dead, especially if the pc's old.

there is a large battery which is plugged into the motherboard, and this battery gives enough power to the motherboard when the computer is powered down to maintain tha time/date and information about the hardware in your pc.

when this battery is flat, the date is reset to a really old date and anytime you set the date to the correct time/date it will be lost when the machine is powered down.

you'll need to replace it, but they only cost pennies:

You do understand that the monitor has nothing to do with the time on your PC other than to allow your eyes to view it?

1. Run a daylight savings time patch
2. Make sure you're using right time zone
3. Your CMOS battery may be bad.
