What kind of computer should I get?

I'm going to be a sophomore in high school this year and I really want my own desktop. I don't know anything about buying a computer. I'm looking for something under $1000, preferably under $700. I just would do stuff on it like homework/school projects, surf the net, download music, instant message, watch DVD's and maybe play a few games. But I'm not a major gamer or anything. I also do not want to get a mac. So what kind of computer should I get? And it would be really helpful if you could include a link. Thanks!

Ok, the best compute you could possibly buy is a MacBook. But seeing that youre budget's a bit low, I reccomend an HP. I'm really impressed with its new look and performance average. Check it out, you wont regret it. But whatever u do DO NOT GET A DELL!

You would want a faster running computer... 2000+ Ghrz 2048 Mg Memory 250 G Harfdrive You also have to make sure that you have a computer that has a TV Card or on that has the input/output for your cable. When you look at computers they will usually say this information on the box or you cna ask the sales associate.

I would have to agree with Jesse. I have had my Dell for two years and I have not had any trouble with mine.

look for 2GBs of RAM, DVD drive INtel core 2 duo CPU 320GB hard drive

dells are good computers for like games...and the internet
macs are good or like music(itunes)
