Short answer: Yes

Long answer: It depends on the connectors your current hard drive has, and what connectors the new hard drive has.

You may need to buy an adaptor cable, if one is ATA, and the other is SATA.

Hummmm I am not sure about that I think it might only work on certain computer though probably not the real old hard drive on the new compuer or the new hard drive on an old computer it might make a difference depending how old the computer is for instant an old desktop from 1993 and put in a new yard drive might not work because it have to do with updated hard drive on operating system (i think) because 1993 was a window DOS Okd hard drive on a new computer might work as long as if it support the new computer if it confrig to a new desktop with old hard drive. yes, laptop hard drive will only work with laptop computer. so you would need to get an engineer to look at your hard drive and your computer to see if it will confirg. new/old hard drive new/old desktop and new old laptop.

There are allot of if in this answer. If the drive is of the proper type, ie, "Sata" or Pata. If the connectivity is correct. And last, if the formatting is correct. Then the drive will work.
