Hardware - May 2007

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V7010 Laptop. Its got a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHz 1.84GHz and 224 RAM.
Sometimes it gets too slow and I think it would be fine if I just added more ram.
I'm not an expert in computers so I was wondering if I bought 1GB more ram would that make it better?
And would it be worth it?
Also, is it fairly easy to install the ram once I get it?

Have any of ya heard that "buzz" coming out of speakers when they aren't set up right? I hear it when I connect a 3.5mm mini jack to the headphone insert, connect dual RCA lines with an adapter, and run those to my receiver. When I Plug in headphones to the insert no buzz so what am I doing wrong?

What does it mean when your computer will ONLY run in SAFE MODE? I've tried to get it back to a NORMAL MODE, but it won't work!! I've been running Windows ME, WHICH...I KNOW NOW IS TOTALLY USELESS!!! If I get another monitor, will THAT solve the problem?

Until recently my Canon Printer, S750, worked fine,
Using XP home. Now I cannot renstall it because the message keeps saying it cannot find the printer file. I've contacted Canon and their instructions do not correct it. Does anyone know what file I am missing and how to find it? I know it sounds vague and impossible but I need help. Thanks.

I am going to be away from work for a few weeks and need to sort out a computer. Has anyone any ideas which laptop (cheapest) that i can buy and use from home? I want to use wireless even though we have broadband in the house. Does it create any problems?

Also I will be using the phone alot and need to let my boss know which calls belong to the company-any ideas anyone?

I would like to know how to get 4 pictures to one sheet of A4 sized paper, also what do I do to set the printer to take smaller paper such as a quarter of the size of A4, other than not being able to do this [ being a novice......... I defrag often & many times. There are no programs running (that i know of). I can leave the computer on all day & check the hard drive & it's fragmented bad again & I didn't do anything on it. What's going on?

Whenever i start up my computer it just randomly decides to shut itself off after about 5 min. I already check about it overheating and this isnt the case. The fans are fine. My question is could this be a power supply problem? My computer has been working fine the past year and it just suddenly started to act like this.

1. I bought a new PC in January 2007. It was fast with the initially loaded programmes. In April, I loaded MS Office 2007. After that the PC has slowed down quite a fair bit. The response time for other programmes also slow. Why is this happening? What is it due to?

I have a DELL Dimension 2300 Desktop and I think it meets the minimum requirements to run the game. It has a Intel Celeron CPU with 1.70 Ghz with 256 MB of RAM. It runs Windows XP with service pack 1. can anyone let me know what the difference is also between running the game on a laptop and a desktop because I'm not sure what the big difference is. i have an a7n266 vm rev 1.05 AMD athlon xp 2000+ processor with clock speed 1.67 ghz. plz help me overclock t

i hve never tried this b4. and i dont hve any basics in overclocking. i could find some terrible postings dealt with wiring , soldering and all. i dont want me burn the only one pc i hve so, could u plz tell me is there anyother safe way to do that. i hve also heard abt jumber settings and multipliers..i know it deals with clock speed. and we can increase it by setting the jumper to another level.......actually i cant practically find anything like that on my motherboard....expecting satisfying answers...

I just have USB 1.1 on my computer and my flash drive did work there at first but at a reduced rate of course. I also have a Firewire Interface that is wired to other ports. I thought I'd gain some speed by getting the adapters to adapt the Firewire port to USB and using the Firewire port for my USB Flash drive. This I did, but when I plugged in my flash drive it wouldn't work. In fact by the time I got done trying to make it work, (about 5 minutes), I discovered the Flash drive was very Hot, almost too hot to handle. Yes, It seems to be Fried. It no longer works in the USB Port. The light blinks, but it is no longer recognized.
Question, What did I do wrong? Aren't I supposed to be able to hook up a USB Flash drive directily to a Firewire port? Any help sincerely appreciated. Thanks!
