I am going to be away from work for a few weeks and need to sort out a computer. Has anyone any ideas which laptop (cheapest) that i can buy and use from home? I want to use wireless even though we have broadband in the house. Does it create any problems?

Also I will be using the phone alot and need to let my boss know which calls belong to the company-any ideas anyone?

Thanks

If you have the homehub which is wireless, yes, even some older BT router are wireless, so yes.

Ask BT to itemize your bill, this way you can pick out work calls cost.

Dell are good providers of cheap laptops. Assuming you are in the UK, they are advertising reasonable laptops from 279 upwards (excl VAT and Del).
Wireless is something you use to access your broadband. I assume you already have a connection to the internet and this can be in 2 flavours: router and modem. If your existing computer connects to the internet via a USB port then chances are you have a modem and need to upgrade to a router. A router works as a gateway to your internet connection allowing a number of computers to use it at the same time. Setting up routers is fairly simple. If you choose a router, ensure you select one with wireless built in (most will have these days) and ensure it also supports your internet connection technology (ie ADSL or cable).
If you already have a router without wireless you can add an access point which effectively adds wireless connectivity to your existing router.

I have a notebook for sale for $500. Its a brand New acer aspire 5100-3577. You can get the specs online. But yes, so long as your broadband router has a wifi router built in, you could connect using the wifi on the notebook. BUT your router has to support WIFI. You will know if it does or not if it has an antenna attached to it.

Use your cellphone to make your calls. Then you can go online, print out your bill, and highlight the calls for the company.

wireless is simply a method of connecting your computer to the internet whereas broadband is the actual connection. with wireless u simply will have the broadband connection without any wires connecting it so u can move about as u please!

as to which laptops are cheap, i would recomend dell or acer. try dell online for a good deal but beware of the service and p&p charges they add on.

of path you are able to (with 2 BT lines and a pair of separate internet connections). it is purely comparable to an in depth neighbour having his very own router. all you are able to desire to do is configure your computing device to connect with the router of your decision by applying applying the suitable encryption key. i'm not fairly specific in case you need to use 2 on the spot routers on an identical internet connection or 2 internet connections on an identical BT line nevertheless. wish this facilitates.
