1. I bought a new PC in January 2007. It was fast with the initially loaded programmes. In April, I loaded MS Office 2007. After that the PC has slowed down quite a fair bit. The response time for other programmes also slow. Why is this happening? What is it due to?
My PC is running on AMD 64 Athlon and RAM size is 512KB

2. I want to check the amount of RAM memory used. How do I check?

maybe you've loaded a bit too much stuff on your pc - try shutting that office tool bar if its on and remove any useless software you may have installed.

to check the amount of RAM memory used press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Delete] together and choose the Performance tab in the Windows Task Manager - see the Physical Memory - its given in KB the total is the total RAM you have while Availabe is the free memory
[btw thats for Win XP]

another btw: you've got 512MB and not 512KB

Firstly, Your RAM size must be 512MB. Have you installed any anti-virus software lately? If yes then your system would tend to dramatically slow down. Also if yours is a VISTA O/S then there could be an unresolved issue and you must report it to microsoft.

1)It could be that you have a little bit of RAM. Upgrade it, its easy.
2)You might have spyware. That always slows it down. Check it for that and get rid of it with anti spyware program.
