I have two western digital SATA hardrives and I have connected both on motherboard. My system properties hardwrae did read second drive but not OS. My OS is XP Pro. I have eight pins for setting which pin do I use. Thank you

I am using an on-board sound card ( which is the connectors stucked to the motherboard ) and I found out that my sound is not working the next day. My Win xp pro can detect the sound driver but when i did some test, the sound volume control cannot be adjusted. My sound driver is: Realtek High Definition Audio. Motherboard: MSI 945GM2

Is there a way to retify this problem?
( I don't know whether the shop cheated me by using an old motherboard. My com sys is a DIY. )

I am building a computer system and am new to SATA technology. I am purchasing my first SATA hard drive.

The motherboard comes with the SATA data cable. What I want to know is if the power supply plugs directly into the SATA drive or does it need a special cable with a molex on one end?

On my hard drive wires, there are 2 different power cables besides the standard molex connectors. Would those be SATA power cables? They are black connectors and very thin.

Trying to upgrade my Bios (which is causing a major headache) and have been told I need to make a DOS Boot Disc first, but the example the support web site give is for windows 98!!!!

I noticed it dident sound good like a rattle I removed the screws and what a mess piece of junk how do I get it back in place what side faces up? Where exactly do the heads go between the platters lower or upper? Do I really need to buy another 400GB drive?

I am reasonably PC literate and have had a PC since about 1992.
After regular abuse, by my nephews, from internet gaming and music downloads, our computers either slow down considerably or certain applications, i.e. the internet, stop working.
So, I am seriously considering replacing one of the older PCs with a Apple Mini Mac.
As my nephews won't change their internet habits, would an Apple Mac still work perfectly well after this sort of abuse or am I just dreaming when I think of an easy life?

when i tried to connect them(computer ,usb adapter and dvd writer) then the dvd tray is opening and closing but i m not seeing the icon of dvd writer in "My computer" folder
along with floppy drive and cd drive.

plz help.....

I have a new PC with a Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE 512MB video card and when playing some games at the higher resolutions the framerate still slows down considerably. Someone once told me that it is possible to install a second video card which is solely dedicated to gaming and should improve the frame rate. I don't have much experience in these areas so can anyone help and tell me what I need to buy and if its easy to install?

first off some specs, ive got an IBM T23 laptop computer (ok so technicaly its lenovo) 6-cell Lithium Ion battery manufactured by Sanyo. for the past hour my battery gauge has been showing 1% ive recently been on a re-conditioning rampage (3 times this month). because the battery that was designed to have a full charge capacity of 38.88 watt hours is now peaking at 12.3 Wh. would this mean by battery is mis-calibrated? if so how the hell do i get this thing to calibrate???

I think that I have given a slightly wrong explanation of the print error,
I will try again.!! If I write the address in the centre of the envelope it always prints out only about half of it, and that is on the right hand top corner, that is why I said that I had to type it on the bottom left hand corner with lines below the envelope
for it to centre itself on the final printout. I am using greetings card programme for the envelopes and lexmark all in one p3100
injet printer. I hope this makes it a bit easier to understand.

I am going back to Uni after a year out soon and will be needing a new computer. As space is at a premium i'd like a computer I can watch freeview on (which I know isn't a problem) and i'd also like to be able to plug my Playstation in and use that too.
So basically I want to buy a new computer and replace my TV. Oh and i'm on a budget of around £800. Any ideas?
