I am using an on-board sound card ( which is the connectors stucked to the motherboard ) and I found out that my sound is not working the next day. My Win xp pro can detect the sound driver but when i did some test, the sound volume control cannot be adjusted. My sound driver is: Realtek High Definition Audio. Motherboard: MSI 945GM2

Is there a way to retify this problem?
( I don't know whether the shop cheated me by using an old motherboard. My com sys is a DIY. )

Check the website for the manufacturer of the board to see if they have an updated audio driver. Sounds like you are using an older driver that is not the correct one for the version of Windows you are using. (Such as a Win98 driver on WinXP)

I would first right click on my computer and go to properties. Then you need to go to device manager.

There you will be able to see if there are drivers installed for your sound. If the drivers are not installed you will have to get the type motherboard you have and the model number. Then go to their web site and download the sound drivers to your computer.
