I just bought a nicely loaded Toshiba lap top and I let the battery on it charge over night but it still only lasted about 45 minutes. Is this normal or should I take it back?

I was using my computer the other day and it froze up so I tried to reset it but it wouldn't so I unplugged it and it will not power back on now at all. I checked my surge protector I even plugged it straight into the wall and still nothing. The green light on the back of the power supply was blinking so I pulled the power supply out and tried another one fromm a different computer but still no go. When I unhook the supply from my board the light will go to a solid green and when I start to plug it back into the board the fans will kick on and off but when I plug it all the way in nothing works and the light goes back to blinking. Is my mother board more than likely shot? I am going to try the HP troubleshooting on the power supply but I don't see that helping. Any advice would be appreciated.

My cd rom drive was left open and I accidentally got my sweatpants caught unto it and it pulled it out of place. I pressed the "open/close" button and it wouldnt close so I pushed it back closed. Now when I hit the "open/close" button, the light blinks as if its about to open, but its jammed shut. I tried the sticking a pin to the small hole trick but that didnt work. Is my computer permantly damaged????

Thanks in advance . . .

I know that having a low amount of memory can freeze a computer but I heard somewhere that having mixed chips of RAM, like a 512 MB chip and a 256 MB chip can also make it lock up. Is this true?

I just got a new battery to replace my old battery which was dead. When the new battery came to me, it had a charge, I could tell by pushing in the button on the side and 4 of the 5 lights came on green. I put the battery in my computer and it said it was charging it. Then, it went to zero percent charged. I took the battery out and pushed the button and now only the first light comes on and blinks green. How can the battery go from being almost completly charged to not at all? The third party I bought the battery from said to upgrade my BIOS, but I tried that, and it said my BIOS were already up-to-date. Any ideas?

The drive is a secondary drive. It is a seagate 120 GB.

Okay so I have been having problems with this drive off and on for a few months. My computer would sometimes freeze when I accessed the drive or when I shut down.

I've had it for about 7 months or so. No problems the first few months. Recently the drive is not even showing when I go to my computer. I've pretty much accepted at this point that I'm not going to be able to get back what was on there. Fortunately most of my important stuff was on my C drive.

I'm no expert but fidgeting around I was able to get it to at least show when I go to My Computer. However, I can't get inside and when I try to format it seems to be taking forever. I think this thing is done. Any advice?

It is not a decision I want to take lightly. I have workarounds once I am in Windows, but it would be nice for it to work prior to Windows loading.
