It is not a decision I want to take lightly. I have workarounds once I am in Windows, but it would be nice for it to work prior to Windows loading.

It is a MSI KT4V motherboard (AMI BIOS MS6712 v1.8 12/2/03).

It might, the BIOS is up to Version 3.2 now.

It may solve the problem, there should be infrmation along with the bios update outlining what changes have been made.


Before flashing the bios I would see if it is possible to reset the bios in case of problems, this can usually be done by removing a battery from the motherboard for a few minutes to clear the saved information or by changing some jumpers. This helps if there is a problem.

I understand why you are being cautious I screwed up a laptop flashing the bios as I couldn't clear the bios afterwards.
