My girl frined has dial up and got a bran new dell laptop. she wants to be able to surf the net at night when no one is up from her room. it will cost her mother to much to get dsl its like $50 some thing from the only compnay out their. so is it possble to use a WIRELESS access point to share the conection if she has ICS trun on on the main computer? please not i can not run cables so a hob or swich will not work for me seeing the need cables to work. it has to be WIRELESS.

i have 2 computers and 2 wireless routers. both routers have Ethernet jacks. One router has the incomming line and this computer I'm using right now. is it possible to hook up a router to another computer and get a connection between the 2 routers??

I have just went from DSL back to dial-up and I am having all kinds of problems. I knew the speed would change, but not everything else in my computer. It acts a lot like there could be a virus, but there is no reason for it. It is freezing a lot and in different places, kicking off a lot and two isp's have not been able to get me on line.

I have a linksys wireless router wrt54gs v5.1. It works fine till people on the network start using torrents, which causes people to get disconnected from the network and overall slowness.There is unofficial firmware that is released for version 4.x and below that claims to fix the problem. Is there anyway to fix this for my router?

Where i work there is wireless and LAN connections to the Internet. In my office i cannot pickup the wireless signal, but i do have a LAN line. I used my old linksys wrt54gs now i have wireless, but my office computer cannot connect to the server? The desktop doesn't have a wireless card and it is connected to the router by an Ethernet cable. My company requires a user name and password and uses novell software for that. What can i do to stop my router from blocking access to the Internet from my desktop? I disabled the routers firewall.

My mother has a new computer and needs to use e:mail for her job. Her telephone company is OneTel. She is in Northants, UK. She is an absolute technophobe. I have a Linksys WRT54GL, and up until yesterday it was working perfectly fine. Now all of the sudden it will not work wirelessly, but if I plug a lan cable into the router I can get internet without a problem. The router is attached to a cable modem, and I am also able to connect a lan cable to my cable modem and get internet fine. For some reason when I try to connect wirelessly I do not get an ip. I am using DHCP, and I am also using a Mac with OS X. Any suggestions? I have tried a second router and it is having the exact same problem. I have also reset the router to it's defaul settings without any success. Can anyone help me out? I was thinking of flashing the router and updating the firmware, but I am not sure that would work or not. Help is appreciated.

I live in a rural area (between Inglis and Dunnellon, Florida), with at&t fastaccess DSL. Ever since, starcraft multiplayer has been lagging. I checked my network connections, and it says my modem is 100mbps, and it sends 160,000 packets, and recieves 152,000 packets. I turned off my firewall, it didn't seem to help. Is this normal, or is there some way to fix it?
