If I have 2 wifi/lan wireless usb adapters can I use them to connect 2 pcs,without a wireless router?

If not,what are some other cheap ways to set up a network between 2 PCs.

Yes, you can actually use two wireless adapters as a wireless version of a crossover cable, dodging the need for an Access Point for both clients to connect to.

I'd suggest googling "Ad-Hoc networking" for more info about how to set it up.

Yse this is possible. This is called a Ad-HOC wireless network. In the software controlling one of your USB adapters set it to ad-hoc, not infrastructer. then you will need to set the SSID, name it something you want.

Then on the other computer search wireless networks and connect to the one you named.

Two things. Ad-HOC mode has a very limited range and the maxiumun transfer speed is 11Mb/s, no matter what 802.11x protocol you are using.

Your wireless adapters have to get their signal from some place - that is the router.
Geez - you can buy a router for $29.

Or if you do not want Internet - just get a cross over Ethernet cable and share files.

Yes you would need to use the wifi in ad-hoc mode. This allows connections between PCs.

I'm not completley sure, but i don't think you can. Just buy an eternet cable, they can get expensive so try somone else's idea first. 7ft=$15
