Ok, first off, I have a Gateway 500 xl. This computer only has pci and agp grahics card slots. I was wondering, what will happen if I put a pci-e card in the agp slot. Is there anyway that this can mess up my computer. What will happen. If it works will a pci-e work better than an agp video card. Any help/insight you could give me would be greatly appriciated.

Can this run BF2142 at around 60fps with high settings around 800x600-ish?
Or 40-50 around 1024x768

No AA involved, I don't like AA and never use it

System specs are
Celeron D 3.2ghz (dont diss it because its named celeron, it has basically nothing in common with the original, its 3.2ghz, and its a pentium 4 pretty much just re-labeled and some features missing)

1GB Ram, decent speed

Radeon HD 2600XT


I know it's not the 4 gig dual core beast everyone else keeps bragging they have, but damnit this this has shocked the living hell outta me with driver tweaks and OC, hardly any drivers on this PC are from the manufacturer they are all 3rd party versions that actually help out my poor spec problem.

if its any help, amazingly, i get around 100-130 fps on CS:S on 800x600 with high settings along with bloom and all those goodies. has never dropped below 70 even in the graphics stress test (averages 117 in that)

When I try to update my service pack 1 xp to service pack to it gets suck on the running processes before install. I have left the installer on over night and it is still stuck on running processes before install. please help me fix this problem....


(also i have enough space on my hard drive it says i have 65% to still use)

I'm just trying to set up a static IP, so I can finally prt forward the router, so I can finally use the Internet to it's full power.

The manual (http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm) says that "some router's act as a proxy between the actual name servers and my computer" and that I need to know if mine's the case.

Please tell me if it is so, or at least give me a helpful tip, which will help me to set up the static IP. No suggestions to call the ISP, please!!!

I formatted my system & started to install a fresh copy of Windows XP SP2. It started, I deleted previous setup after rebooting system then started to install a fresh one but after some installation, system restarted 3-4 times and I got frustrated. Then, I closed the system and on next day again tried to install the same. I started the system then I found that it stops there where it was last night, so I thought I can install now but whenever I do formalety like it asked by installation (i.e. filling of computer name, setup keys etc.) the computer restarts again and after that time it doesn't show anything neither it boots.
And, now from that time whenever I've inserted many bootable discs but always I got a message that " this disc has an error and setup can't continue, press any key to exit " & this error comes when setup installing Kernel Debugger Files.
I would like to add more that my bootable disc is good & I've done the formatting many times. Please help me in any way.

Last night my mom ordered Norton again, because our sub. was running out. Well, the lady she was talking to said that she would renew us for 30 days while we waited for the stuff to come in the mail and we'd still have protection. Anyway, when I woke up this morning I tried doing something online, and the computer was running really slow, so I tried restarting it and now it keeps shutting itself off saying there was a problem. It did this last time my mom renewed Norton, and now we don't know what to do. I really don't want to lose all the files and stuff we have, we just went through that a few months ago. Is there anything I can do? I can't even get to the desktop before it shuts itself off, so don't tell me to click start and do something, I can't get to that point.

I have a dell inspiron and I don't have any files on my computer yet; all I did was create a password and now I can't sign onto the computer. I remember the exact password but it won't let me sing in. Is there a way you can reset your password with out being signed in? Is there a way to make a new account with out being signed in?

if i try to copy and paste picture from the internet and when i go to photoshop cs3 it will not be highlighted so im unable to do that. I try to save the image and then open it up in photoshop but alot of pictures i cant..im guessing its because its not the right file as in a jpeg file or something. I dont know how to fix this or i need an update or something. And also it will not let me ctrl+alt+z to go back. It flickers and goes to my background for a second when i let go and doesnt undo it so i have to go to edit and undo each time. so if anyone has any suggestions or help ill be gratefull. :) thanks

I have an external harddrive that i use to store whatever i download on my laptop for space issues. Anyways, i recently 'filled up' the harddrive so i went through it deleting some of the bigger files which i no longer needed. Even after deleting many files it still shows that i have about 2 mb's of space left and won't let me store anything else on it. Any ideas?

I've got a dell inspiron E1505. Recently I've got a lot of blue screens and the computer is taking a long time to load. I've gotten several

"irql not less or more" errors that suggest I disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. I also got one about Kernel or something.

The most recent error had these number:

0X000000F4 (0X00000003, 0X8649A818, 0X8649A98C, 0X805D13B6)

I think some important windows files somehow got deleted, but I dont the original windows disc does not come with dells..... Any ideas?
